Trustee Timothy H. Sullivan
Trustee Timothy H. Sullivan
- Village Mayor Elect -
For more than 30 years, Timothy has been committed to keeping our Village a beautiful, fun and safe community. A third generation Malvernite, he began his service on the Youth Board under Mayor Canzoneri.
Tim has strong experience in shaping public policy and financial planning. As a Malverne Trustee, he actively worked as Village Budget Director for the past four years, leading the outstanding fiscal practices and strict budgetary discipline that successfully produced balanced budgets, while maintaining sufficient reserves and funding a 5-year capital plan, with only minimal tax increases.
During the recent pandemic, while facing an unpresented economic challenge to the Village, Tim took the lead in re-forecasting the 2020 budget and, in cooperation with department heads and the Board, established immediate spending cuts, hiring freezes and deferred promotions and capital spending. Due to the resulting fiscal surplus, Malverne maintained its excellent fiscal position.
A founder and managing member of a real estate investment and development company, Tim recently relocated its headquarters to our Village. Previously he specialized in public/private tax credit and bond financing of multifamily affordable housing throughout the country. Tim has facilitated the origination of over $2 Billion in such investments and has additionally asset managed in excess of 25,000 apartment units in 30 different states throughout his career. More recently, Tim has been personally responsible for raising investment capital in excess of $30 million for the purposes of developing a 72- unit condominium community along with numerous multifamily and single-family home subdivisions throughout Nassau County.
Tim holds a degree in finance, with a minor in economics from the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University where he also was president of his class and a leader in student affairs and activities.
As Village Trustee he has worked closely with the Department of Public Works to improve our infrastructure, preserve our assets, and beautify parks and public spaces while maintaining more environmentally friendly and financially rewarding practices. Under Tim's leadership, the village began a street maintenance program to ensure long-term benefits from our road repaving program, by divesting surplus of aged/or underutilized equipment to reinvest in more modern and practical resources.
Tim led these efforts which resulted in a historic grant of seven million dollars to invest in Village infrastructure and the enhancement of Whelan Field, with walking and jogging paths while also providing for education on the importance of environmental stewardship on our watershed.
He was also liaison to the Library Board, working to update and expand our Library’s facilities and offerings in the rapidly evolving digital world.
Tim and his wife Catherine returned to the Village to raise their daughter Ella as a fourth generation Malvernite.
